Zia
ZIA...Uncover your gypsy girl soul with this shawl whose
accommodating length allows the wearer to wrap and drape it
in a multitude of ways. Fabricated in a rustic silk blend yarn
and finished off with oversized tassels in the spicy, earthy
colors of the Latin "tierra".
Zia's stitch pattern mimics textural garments found throughout many world cultures, especially the rebozo of Mexico. Being fascinated by this multi-tasking body covering, used for everything from hoisting babies on your hip to head cover in a tropical downpour I envisioned an urban version of the original. This interpretation simulates a woven pattern used near a village in Jalisco where I spent time teaching in the early 1970's.
Created with variations of predominantly knit stitch, Zia proves
that even the simplest of stitches, when used in intriguing color
combinations and with a sensual yarn, can create something lovely
and complex. AVAILABLE AS A PDF DOWNLOAD ONLY. Once your transaction is complete, PDF will be emailed to your account.
